Randi Glazer: Fun and Effective Team Building Exercises- That Actually Work

Most people have experienced at least one awkward ice breaker at a conference or get-to-know-me game during a meeting. Most people also dread these activities. But Randi Glazer believes that effective team building can be done with these somewhat silly games.

It is important to focus on the type of game played and what you want to accomplish with the group. Randi Glazer works in the insurance industry to help clients reach their financial goals. So what are some of the activities experts use to foster better teamwork?

  • Physical activities: team sports can be a great way for co-workers to forge bonds and get to know one another better. The sense of friendly competition among some and the sense of brotherhood among others will create a healthier team environment overall. It is important to not make the sport become an obligation or something employees are forced into because it can then lead to resentment.
  • Shared meals: this can be an overlooked way for employees to bond. Whether the company occasionally provides lunch or the employees participate in a pot luck lunch, they will undoubtedly feel closer to one another after breaking bread together. Bringing in favorite homemade recipes may help people find common ground on their shared loved of mashed potatoes.
  • Development games and meetings: there is something to be said about team development meetings, games and seminars. Some of them can be very effective, depending on the type of program and the group it is being delivered to.

Randi Glazer tries many different activities with her team members to help foster team work skills.
